How to Eat Chocolate and Lose Weight

Can you eat chocolate and lose weight? This might surprise you, but yes, you can! You can eat dark chocolate. Here’s what dark chocolate can do for you:

  • Cuts Cravings – You’re trying to keep a healthy diet and be more productive at work. Suddenly, you feel yourself becoming tired and need that extra burst of sugar to wake you up. A small amount of dark chocolate each day can keep you from reaching for food lower in nutritional value and higher in sugar.

  • Reduces Body Fat–Chocolate contains flavanols, which lower blood sugar and reduce body fat. Dark chocolate contains more flavanols than milk chocolate. Still, don’t overdo it. Just eat one to two pieces each day to get your quick chocolate fix.

  • Controls Appetite – Chocolate contains fiber. You need to fiber to remain full for longer. A 3.5-ounce, 70% dark chocolate has 16% of fiber. Eat other fibrous rich food followed by dark chocolate for dessert or a snack.

Dark chocolate contains 70% to 85% cacao solids and has 170 calories. The additional 32 calories are made up of zinc, iron, magnesium, copper, and phosphorous. If you want one-ounce dark chocolate, you’ll receive 3.5 g of iron, which you need for healthy red blood cell production.

One ounce of dark chocolate has 6.8 g of sugar, whereas one ounce of milk chocolate has 15.8 g of milk chocolate, making the former a better choice for weight loss. The high fiber content in dark chocolate reduces the absorption of sugar and keeps you feeling full for several hours.

You can eat a dark chocolate bar, one to two pieces each day. Whenever you’re craving dessert, you can create a sweet dish using dark chocolate.  Whenever you’re in the mood for dessert at work, you too can eat a healthy dessert made from healthy ingredients.
