How to Start Your Fitness Journey
Whether you’ve gained a few extra pounds or are just looking to become a healthier version of yourself, it’s never too late to start focusing on your fitness. While you may have all the motivation you need to achieve your fitness goals, how should you start your fitness journey?
So if you’re unsure of how to start your fitness journey, we’re here to help you with a few tips.
Make a Commitment to Yourself
When starting your fitness journey, you don’t just start walking or running five miles a day. You start by preparing yourself mentally; setting your focus on the fact that you’re ready for change. If you aren’t fully committed to the process, it will be very difficult for you to reach your goals. Convince yourself that no matter how hard times get, you will see yourself all the way through!
Have a Vision
Having a vision and goals will help guide you throughout the process. Maybe your goal is to lose a few pounds or to build muscle and get fitter. Either way, getting inspiration from your favorite stars or other inspirational people can keep you motivated and help you achieve your fitness goals.
Start Small
Is this the first time you’re planning to work out? Never exercised a day in your life before? Well, don’t get consumed by the need to jump into a full workout routine or rigorous exercise. Start slow and take it easy on yourself. You can start by incorporating simple exercises into your daily workout routine: maybe do 10 squats and 10 jumping jacks. If 10 is too much for you, switch to 5 a day. However, make sure that you gradually increase the number to ensure that your routine is effective.
Something Is Always Better Than Nothing
There’s one thing you need to constantly remind yourself every single day of your fitness journey: something is better than nothing! Some days you might be buried under office work or you might struggle to get out of bed. Days like these can be the hardest, and before you decide to give up, push yourself to find 5 or 10 minutes in your day where you can squeeze in a mild workout. Maybe you can take your dog for a stroll, do 5 squats, or opt for a quick yoga session before bedtime.
The key to having a successful fitness journey is – consistency!
Start small, and with time, you’ll start enjoying your healthy lifestyle.
